Barge Bridge.

As we're coming back from the French Quarter, we are stopped at the bridge to get back into our area. Why you asked would you be stopped on a bridge? Well, because a barge was passing through and the bridge was raised until the area was cleared. Since we were the first bus in line, I saw the procedure for how this bridge works. As the barge approches, the bridge is lifted to the proper angle to allow the barge to fit through. They never know what sized barges are coming through and therefore need the opening to accomodate for a variety of sizes. Angles are an important component to the struture of all bridges. Then, when the bridge closes, it needs to go back to a perfect 180* angle so that vehicles can pass through without any problems.
